Do labels like “Type A,” “high-functioning anxiety,” “former gifted kid,” or “anxious coper” feel familiar to you or the way you manage life? Many of us who cope by avoiding mistakes at all costs, speaking harshly to ourselves when things go wrong, or feeling intense anxiety when situations are unpredictable might identify as high-striving perfectionists. And if this sounds like you, you’ll know how draining it can be. You may feel the exhaustion, stress, and overwhelm that come with constantly pushing yourself.
In this online workshop, we would like to think with you about how these psychology shapes develop and where they serve us versus where they might be a bit tricky.
By the end of the workshop, we hope you will come away with the below:
- Understand why my mind tends towards this kind of coping
- Understand how it might work well for me
- Alternate options for ways of coping that might be more sustainable or build flexibility
- Understand possible barriers to implementing these alternate strategies and forward plan around this
